Actor Luke Perry, whodied Monday at age 52, left behind a legacy greater thanBeverly Hills, 90210orRiverdale: his kids Jack, 21, and Sophie, 18.
Jack’s in-the-ring persona is that of a Tarzan-esque character, complete with his mane of long curls, loin cloth-like shorts and a heavy dose of leopard print.
Jack also noted that he trains with actor David Arquette, who was a longtime friend of Luke’s.
Jack began pursuing professional wrestling as a senior in high school and was careful not to let his father’s fame overshadow his own success, according toSports Illustrated.
“My family is a part of who I am, but I’m trying to make my own way. I don’t want to use (my father’s fame) to be successful, I want to have my own success,” he said.
Jack’s social media pages frequently promote upcoming matches, and in January he eagerly anticipated “the most important night of (his) life,” aface-off against Brody Kingfor Pro Wrestling Guerrilla in Los Angeles.
He’s scheduled to appear in several upcoming matches, including onMarch 13, where he will compete with LucaSaurus against PJ Black and Taya Valkyrie.
Luke wasspotted attendingone of his son’s matches in Los Angeles in 2017. The actor filmed the entire match, according toProWrestlingSheet.com.
The actor’s friend and90210costar Shannen Doherty exclusively toldPEOPLEthat Perry was a proud pop who frequently bragged about his children’s achievements.
“Luke loved his family. He raved about his kids and how proud he was of them,” she said. “He showed me videos of them often. They were his heart and for him, his biggest accomplishment.”
Perry suffered a stroke on Feb. 27 and was under observation for five days before he died Monday. A source told PEOPLE he never regained consciousness.
