SZAgot emotional as she took the stage at the2024 Grammysto accept the award for best R&B song.

“Sorry I’m out of breath because I was changing then I took a shot and I ran here,” she said as she ran on stage and greetedLizzo, who presented the award to her with a big hug. “But Lizzo and I have been friends since 2013 when we were both on a tiny RedBull tour together opening up in small rooms for like 100 people. And to be on the stage with her is so amazing, I’m so grateful.”

She continued, “I would like to thank my parents, my mom and my dad, God, Top Dawg, Punch, all of TDE and my siblings at TDE, to my godparents, to my niece.”

“I just.. I’m sorry, I’m just really overwhelmed,” the singer said as she got choked up. “You don’t really understand. I came really, really far and I can’t believe this is happening and it feels very fake.”

As she finished up her speech, she gave a shoutout toTaylor Swiftin the audience before hilariously rushing off stage. “And I’m… Hi Taylor! I’m just really grateful. And I’m not an attractive crier. Have a good evening.”

Coming into the televised awards ceremony,she was already a winner. She took home the award for best R&B performance for “ICU” and toldLaverne Coxon the red carpet that she was feeling “so many emotions.”

“I’m really trying to keep it together. I think I’m just reflecting on everything that got me here. And it makes me emotional," she said duringE!’s Live from the Red Carpet show. “I just want to continue to inspire the girls who look like me to just keep pursuing because all of this wouldn’t have happened if I gave up and I’m just grateful I did not."

Halle earned a nod for the category for “Angel,” the titular track off her 2023 album. The new mother — shewelcomed a son with her boyfriend DDG at the end of the year— has previously been nominated five times, including two nods for her 2018 joint album with her sister,Chloe,The Kids Are Alright.At the time, she was only 18 years old, while her sister was 20, and she made history as one of the youngest nominees ever.

SZA’s “Snooze” was just one of her whopping nine nominations at this year’s awards show, making her the most-nominated artist at the 2024 Grammys.

Among her nominations include song of the year, best R&B performance and record of the year for “Kill Bill,” as well as best traditional R&B performance for “Love Language” and best melodic rap performance for “Low.”

The hitmaker is also up for best pop duo/group performance withPhoebe Bridgersfor their hauntingSOSduet “Ghost in the Machine.”

With 24 total nominations, she’s also a winner, having taken home the award for best pop duo/group performance withDoja Catin 2022 for “Kiss Me More.”

Monét earned seven nominations at the 2024 Grammys, leading the pack behind SZA and alongside Bridgers and engineer Serban Ghenea. Aside from the nod for best R&B song, the “Moment” singer is also nomination for record of the year “On My Mama,” best R&B album forJaguar IIand best new artist.

She also made history as her 2-year-old daughter Hazelbecame the youngest-ever Grammy nomineefor her feature on “Hollywood,” which is nominated for best traditional R&B performance.
