Gymnast Samantha Cerio, whobroke both knees and tore multiple ligamentsduring a routine in Louisiana last Friday, is asking people to stop sharing the viral video of her injuries.
“Those of you posting and tagging me in the video of my injury, I am asking you to please stop,” Cerio, 22,wrote on Twitteron Wednesday, according toUSA Today. (Cerio’s account has since been set to private.)
The Auburn University gymnast reportedly continued: “Going through the pain and seeing my knees bent unnaturally in real life was horrible enough, but to continue to see it from videos/pictures because some people feel entitled to repost it is not okay. I have family, friends and teammates who do not need to see me getting injured over and over again.”
“My pain is not your entertainment,” she added, according to the outlet.

Cerio is staying upbeat after undergoing surgery for her devastating injury.
On Wednesday, her fiancé Trey Woodshared a sweet clipof the student-athlete in her hospital bed to Instagram, writing that she was enjoying her day with the help of a coloring book.
“@sam_cerio is having a great day! Thanks for the coloring book @pasleygraham #WarDamnSam #auburngymnastics,” he captioned the video.
Auburn head coach Jeff Graba said that following the gymnast’s surgery Monday, herbiggest focus is marrying Woodin two months. (Ceriorevealed on Instagramthat Wood popped the question in November 2018.)
“She wants to walk down the aisle and get married, and we’re hoping she can do that,” he told NBC News.
Cerio sustained her gruesome injuriesafter she touched down badly while doing a blind landing on a tumbling pass.
Graba said in a statement that her surgery went off without a hitch, and he expected Cerio tomake a full recovery.
“Sam’s surgery lasted two and a half hours and was an extreme success,” he wrote on Twitter Tuesday. “We know the road for full healing is going to be a long and difficult one, but we are confident that she’ll be able to make a complete recovery.”
The Huntersville, North Carolina, native addressed the sudden end to her days as a gymnast in anInstagram postSunday, writing that she “couldn’t be prouder of the person” gymnastics has made her.
“It’s taught me hard work, humility, integrity, and dedication, just to name a few. It’s given me challenges and road blocks that I would have never imagined that has tested who I am as a person,” she wrote. “It may not have ended the way I planned, but nothing ever goes as planned.”
Cerio is set to graduate Auburn with an aerospace engineering degree in May. She already has a job lined up at Boeing in Seattle.
