I do n’t think superheroes work very well on telly . Probably because of the costume affair .
I mean , see above , but also this is very rich for a television show about plundering as many comic volume quality as it can , no matter how little sensation it makes , and then hitting them with an idiot bat until they only mistily resemble the source material they ’re lifted from .
Also , we ’re in a world where Arrow , Flash , Supergirl , Daredevil , and more exist .
tv set is about genuine mass and fount , and not so much about thaumaturgy and the supernatural thing .
Gotham ’s next season is transformingits kid Poison Ivy into an adult Poison Ivy overnightthanks to “ an encounter with a freak . ”
[ Gotham ] has to be both a crime adjective and a mythic , epic , opulent comic script saga . It ’s a tricky combination , because you have to keep it actual and unreal at the same time .
While I think there isa reasonable argument to be madethat Gotham is not follow at being either a criminal offence procedural or a mythologic , epic , wondrous funny book saga , I will not contend the fact that Gotham is very much capable ofkeepingitveryunreal .
The funny book constituency has become so large and seeable with the whole Comic - Con matter that it is very easy to assume that the audience is purely comic book of account enthusiasts . But I execute the show on the basis that it is a error to just go there .
THEN WHY IS EVERY OTHER CHARACTER A BATMAN VILLAIN YEARS BEFORE BATMAN HAS BECOME BATMAN , BRUNO HELLER .
What we are trying to do is always give short Easter eggs , small gifts every installment to the existent cognoscenti , but you do n’t need to know more than the canonic Batman myth .
High caliber easter eggs like “ every other reference is a Batman villain years before Batman has become Batman . ” I give up .
