Okay , seriously . This was a thwarting instalment of Falling Skies . There were a few beneficial moment — just like last week — but also , a lot of hooey that occasioned a serious amount of question - slapping . This show is move to give us a concussion from all the head - slapping .

There were really two things that were somewhat irksome about “ Molon Labe ” :
1 ) Killing Jamil , who ’s pretty much the only really competent , level - manoeuvre somebody in the Second Mass. Jamil had grown on us as a character , purely because he rarely seemed whiny and he could always get clobber done . He was resourceful , and smart , and highly untypical of the Second Mass in his ability to stick to to a programme . Plus it ’s knockout to ignore the alacrity with which this show tends to cast out of all its African American quality — although the show wave Anthony in our faces at the end of the episode , just as a small reminder that there ’s still one left . ( Did anybody else require Anthony to be randomly killed by a falling tree diagram or something , justly after he part saying , “ It ’s sound to be large ! There ’s going to be fish and liquor and stuff ! ” ? ) Oh , and Jamil ’s death also play out the nihilistic “ we are born to suffering and then extinguished without intellect ” side of Lourdes — which turns out to be even more annoying than her “ let ’s hold hand and talk about Jesus ” side .
2 ) The whole “ the alien have a plan but we ’re not going to tell it to you ” thing . Okay , so middling enough that the Overlord take not to explain the alien ’ object lens to Tom Mason — although why are they take in yet another conversation where they toss rhetoric back and forth , if it ’s not actually go to admit concrete stuff ? ( Especially since the Overlord is supposedly trying to convert Tom that the stranger are sorta benignant , really . ) But then subsequently in the episode , there ’s a bit where Ben is leave to strike out on his own , and Ben says , “ When the Overlord was getting inside my head , I could get inside its point too . And I know what they ’re really about , and why we really have to stop them . ” And I was waiting for Tom to say , “ Go on . ” Instead , Tom decides it ’s right smart more important to talk about kindergarten . ( Cue Tom Baker voice : “ TOM MASON IS AN IMBECILE ! ” ) And then Ben leaves , without ever passing along the crucial intelligence he gather from eavesdrop on the extraterrestrial ’s thought .
On the plus side : I care the impression that there are other resistance groups , with their own de - harnessed Kid .
Also , even Weaver has to take at this point that the Skitter Rebellion is veridical , since as Tom say , no other account of the past couple instalment makes a lick of sense . ( Of of course , the Second Mass still has n’t made any concrete moves to make consumption of this knowledge — or else of let Ben ramble off on his own , they should be pressing Ben into help as a liaison with the Rebellion , to countersink up a proper bond . )
Most of all , the bit where Karen is scold Hal about how the alien can see every subatomic corpuscle and foretell how every little item will turn out , when we know her Overlord master has been shoot , is moderately priceless . That ’s a fine , adorable tantrum . And Tom utterly did the right thing shooting the Overlord — his time value as a surety manifestly was n’t keeping the alien from attacking , but he ’s plain of groovy importance to the aliens . Whether the Second Mass get away that hospital or not , one of their main objectives had to be keeping the Overlord out of the aliens ’ hands .
In one of the episode ’s many subplots , Hal kinda - sorta admits he ca n’t stop mean about Karen — and the moment he ultimately admits he might still have a matter for his harnessed ex-wife - girlfriend , Maggie starts make out with him . I guess they ’re really going full arguing with the “ Maggie has low ego - esteem ” slant .
All in all , this was an episode that did n’t change much , except for finally skin Ben away from the Second Mass and confirming that the Skitter Uprising is for veridical . Oh , and killing off Jamil and that other guy . Sigh . Poor Jamil . He deserved better .
