The last sentence Zuck overhaul the website you hold in all day every day was two years ago . Two ! You ’ve in all likelihood alter a decent amount since then , but Facebook has n’t in a style that ’s done anything but make us quail — until today . recruit the clutter sea wolf . Here ’s how you ’ll be stalk the universe now .
The News Feed has been the room we suck data from our supporter , frenemies , exes , and coworkers , since 2006 . It ’s mutated since then — perplex and simplify itself — as Facebook experiments with better ways to show you new status , photos , and nexus . Today ’s restoration is no different : another way of funneling societal info into your brain . But unlike retiring attempts , it ’s with child ( in truth , encompassing ) , bright , and overall more eye - strangling . It ’s full of news . It ’s full of sections . It ’s like , according to Zuck , “ a paper . ” Those onetime thing .
It ’s visual progress , for sure — Facebook has done expectant work sweeping out a pile of what developer call “ chrome ” ( buttons , scrollbars , navigational rubble ) . What ’s left is the stuff you seemingly care about . And that stuff look swell , make the web version of Facebook match the mobile adaptation almost perfectly — all of the clearness and none of the cramp iron , it appears . All the dirt and button mulch that ’s maturate across the sides of Facebook is now swept into one clean sidebar , just like your smartphone app .

Take exposure album — they’ll be bigger , now , with more thumbnails give you an easier at - a - glance mother wit of what your friends in reality did , and where .
When a friend ( or local concern , ahem ) pops up on your new feed , you ’ll get more information about them , too , pulling over their intact Timeline badge , with all its horizontal lushness .
Plus their location , of grade — if they chose to share it .

The new News Feed substantiate it ’s become filled with high - rhenium photos , telecasting , euphony , apps — a million things that make plain on text statuses face quaint . And so it adapts , a la Timeline , with a novel look that ’s think to fill up your screen and aim directly at dazzle your eye . It ’s the same old dumb photos , sure , but they ’re given a premium cosmetic discussion .
This sound like a lot . It is a quite a little . And so Facebook is split up the feed into subcategories — Music , Photos , Games , friend — so that you ’re not strangle with data . Or at least suffocated at a slower , more prosperous pace .
Music , for instance , will give you blips about what songs your crony are mind to on Spotify , along with news from the creative person you follow . Looking good , JT , but I ’m hoping for a Suit & Tie Remix . And if you want news that ’s just from people you do n’t know — Oprah , The - Dream , Pepsi , whatever — you could filter that all into its own silo , too . This cry Twitter , only explode right smart out of the 140 - character fence .

Of of course , that ’s not why we go to Facebook , unless we ’re advertize drone . We go for our friends . Or a small subset of them . So there ’s a Close Friends feed , too , which shun all the celebs and local business , and just bring in your roommate and boyfriend , et . al . Which is nice ! But this is blend in to mean a portion more clicking , rather than just having everything that everyone does all the clock time thrown into one big bin .
It start out rolling out today — slowly , like everything Facebook debuts . So keep refreshing , and start assume picture deserving seeing orotund .
