It ’s here . After months of wait , rumors , and more surmisal than you could throw off a jetpack at , the poke for The Mandalorian ’s second seasonhas arrived . And with it , a whole new look atwhat ’s in storefor our kin of two — and some very challenging clue onwhat ’s to get along . Here are a few item you may have missed .
The trailer opens on a slam of two planet — the world in the scope looks similar to , but may not be , Sorgan , the swampy world Din Djarin ( Pedro Pascal ) met Cara Dune ( Gina Carano ) on inhis early attemptsto protect the Child — as the Razor Crest come into thought . While we ’ve missed seeing it in action , it ’s front a little bad for wear here . The ship ’s cargo hold is heart-to-heart ( in space , so … not great ! ) , the engines are sputtering sparks , and it ’s understandably adrift rather than amount in for a controlled landing . Whatever ’s befall , it is n’t ideal .

As Din and his niggling ward — still in his lovely hover go-cart — issue from the shadows , dialogue from theclimax of the first seasonplays . “ Show me the one whose rubber view as such devastation , ” asks the Armorer ( Emily Swallow ) , the Mandalorian forge captain who assist Din craft his Beskar armour throughout season one .
“ You must reunite it with its own kind , ” the Armorer continues , as we get another snap of this planet Din and the Child have bring on . We do n’t see much of it , but it ’s fitly backworlds - y , Outer Rim elan computer architecture — rackety big towers , graffiti - covered wall , and what perhaps looks like , on the left , the radiate red eye of an “ Offworld ” Jawa . The little kid appeared in season one , too , and merchandise feature these versions of the scrap - loving tinkerers described that some Jawas hitched rides on ship coming and go from Tatooine , lay down small pockets of new Jawa company on other worlds in the Outer Rim .
“ Where ? ” Din asks the Armorer in the continued voice - over flashback ; she replies , “ This you must square off . ” This is frame in over a new shot of the Razor Crest — seemingly in much better physical body than to begin with — flying over an outcrop of stone and a desert globe as a Tusken Raider atop a Bantha lookout .

Now , this does n’t necessarily signify that this is Tatooine : just like the Jawas last time of year , maybe there are Tuskens who went off - world too . But it ’s not like there would n’t be precedent ; the Mandalorianvisited the famous planetfarthest from “ the burnished center of the population ” in the first season on a contract to bring in in assassin Fennec Shand ( Ming - Na Wen ) . Shand was at last “ killed ” by Din ’s fellow bounty hunter on the contract , Toro Calican ( Jake Cannavale ) , but the episode ended with a mysterious figure coming across her body . possibly there are more loose ends for Din to tie up ?
We ’re leave to ponder that as we get yet another shooting of the Razor Crest flying over a three - fork-like canyon on a frozen world , before land with the Child in towage . There ’s a damage ship in the setting that looks an abominable lot like the Razor Crest — the colored markings and the guns match up with its innovation , but it ’s also very understandably clash - landed here in a bad room . Poor ship is stupefy some belt this time of year .
Once again , between Star Wars ’ prevalence for single - biome planets ( and revisiting the same locations while pass water new unity that just search verrrry like ) , it ’s hard to tell if this ice world is a intimate one or a new setting . What potentially makes it incredibly interesting is the voiceover that plays over it from the Armorer , once again from last time of year ’s finale . “ The vocal of eons past tell of battles between Mandalore the keen and an ordering of sorcerers called Jedi . ”

This was a reference to what was cognize as the Mandalorian Wars in the old Star Wars expanded cosmos , a conflict whose radioactive dust was draw in the darling Obsidian RPG Knights of the Old Republic II : The Sith Lords . Although the plot is no long canyon , the war itself was contribute into the new Star Wars canon in Star Wars Rebels , and is now inextricably link up to thehistory of the Darksaber : the Negro - bladed lightsaber handle by the first Mandalorian Jedi , Tarre Vizla , and currently in the hand of Moff Gideon ( Giancarlo Esposito ) .

Tying these shots of a fixed major planet with talk of the Jedi seems highly evocative of the planet Ilum , the fabled gem Earth in the Unknown Regions that was home to the Kyber crystals Jedi would ceremonially gather and fashion into the king nucleus of their lightsabers . It ’d make sense that , if Din is indeed now on a quest to line up the Jedi , he ’d try and find such an important religious site , but he ’d be doing so at a engrossing time for the planet .

Over the form of the Empire ’s normal — as briefly see in the video plot Jedi : diminish Order — the Imperial ’s landing strip - mined Ilum , gathering Kyber for what would finally become the Death Star ’s superlaser task , and when the First Order rise from its ashes , it carved the planet out solely to become thehousing for Starkiller Base . Given that The Mandalorian is set up in 9ABY — about five years after Return of the Jedi — if this is Ilum , the remnant of the Empire that would become the military offshoot of the First Order would be in its early days of converting the planet .
But enough galaxy - braining for a moment . We can get weird ! We cut off from this icy world to what looks like another — much bedwetter — one , as Din surveys a fishing outpost . Note all the beings working at this outpost though : they ’re predominantly Quarren and Mon Calamari , suggest that this is potentially Mon Cala , their shared homeworld . Once again , if it is , Djarin would be chit-chat at an interesting time : Mon Cala was heavily lodge in by the Imperials thanks to the planet’srevolt and supportof the Rebel Alliance in the viewing of the First Death Star ’s demolition , ultimately link up the New Republic after being liberate ( and once again occupied by the First Order , decades later ) .
Anyway , on to the weirdness ! As the flashback / representative over continue — Din retorting to the Armorer , “ Do you expect me to search the wandflower and deliver this creature to a race of enemy sorcerers?”—we focus on one mysterious hooded figure at the outpost , seemingly watching over Din . This charwoman has been confirmedby the WWEas Modern guest star , grappler Sasha Banks .

But given the context of the voiceover again , Banks ’ hooded figure seemingly vanishing out of site with talking of Jedi once again implies a connection to the Force - wielders here . Maybe she is a Jedi . Maybe she just knows of their story — we know there are Force found religion that spin off out of the Jedi ’s declination like Lor San Tekka’sChurch of the Force . Maybe she ’s just really sneaky and this is mismanagement ? Never take over anything with a Mandalorian laggard .
Meanwhile , Din and the youngster areon a sauceboat . This is still that same world , so the large body of water indicates that this is probably not the same as that ice satellite . And before you gasp , yes , boats have indeed existed in Star Wars before . Not just typical sailing boats on oceanic worlds like Pamarthe , and , of course , submersibles on planet like Naboo , but the Empire had repulsorlift - based seacraft in its armies squall Waveskimmers . The more you know !
We ’re back in space this clip , as the Razor Crest is flank by two incoming cristal - Wings . We might live them asthe heroic starfightersof the Rebellion and the New Republic , but to a H.M.S. Bounty hunter like Din ( even a noble one ) , this is basically the bull showing up . particularly considering they ’re lock their S - Foils into attack place , so the New Republic is not here to help our hero this time .

Definitely not . Are these X - wing the cause of the impairment we see the ship received in the opening shot of the preview , or perhaps even why it dash land on that crank - macrocosm ? Do they know of the Child , or are they catch up on Din for his involution with attack the New Republic vas wesaw in time of year one ?
After a quick shot of the Mando on a bike — on what see like the same world as we saw the Tusken earlier — we skip to some familiar faces he provide behind back on Navarro : Cara and Greef Karga ( Carl Weathers ) . We knew we ’d be seeing them again thanks tolast week ’s picturesfrom Entertainment Weekly , so no surprises that Din ’s recruiting some old acquaintance for his quest .

And some old enemies too — on what seems to be yet another satellite . We see Outland TIE Fighters take flight as Stormtroopers and lookout man rockers rally to battle an unseen menace … unseen for a very brief moment , as we also see Din on the same world jetpacking into action ( interspersed with a seemingly unrelated shot of him strain to avoid drown in a locked - off sleeping room somewhere ) . Maybe he has to assault an Imperial Remnant facility for information on Jedi strongholds ? Over this we get our first snip of actually newfangled talks : “ You know this is no place for a child , ” a mystic bod says .
After another quick shot of the industrial major planet we saw early on — the same street , as Din shoots down someone tied up to one of the street lamp — we hark back very briefly to the frosting world from before , as Din cradles the Child and take him into a cave . “ Wherever I go , he go , ” Din says , proceed the conversation from to begin with . This unquestionably looks very Ilum - y.
We get an even quicker shot of the Razor Crest stimulate a very wild entry into the atmosphere . see we saw it clash - landed there , this is credibly Din and the Child on the fashion to maybe - Ilum , rather than that damage having been triggered by the X - Wings we saw chasing them earlie .

… which is very clearly not going to happen . rumpus prepares his Whistling Bird mini - rocket on his lower cannon , and the nestling , knowing what ’s about to pass off , straight off nopes out and locks up the hatch on his hoverpram .
The trailer cuts out as we find out the aftermath of the Whistling Birds going off , to refund on one concluding dig : a lot of very beat stadium patron circumvent Din as he cast out a knife into the chest of drawers of a Zabrak . Evoking the now - iconic Mandalorian acclimatization — this is the way — our Italian sandwich and his little asset prepare to leave the tantrum .
There ’s a lot going on in this first look at The Mandalorian time of year two in action , specially reveals of strange new humankind as Din buy the farm about his newfound pursuance in life .
