Avengers: Endgame’sRuntime Is the Least Interesting Thing About the Film, According to Kevin Feige

Yes , it ’s unfeigned . Avengers : Endgame is three hour long , making it the longest Marvel movie to date . You ’d have to beliving under a rockto have not heardsome rumble about that fact . And , according to Marvel Studios chairperson Kevin Feige , it ’s the least interesting affair about this ending to Marvel ’s first 10 - plus years of films .

“ I think it ’s gotten more press than it than it should , ” Feige told io9 this weekend . “ I imagine running time is the least interesting matter about a movie . ”

Feige note that it ’s not interesting because that type of conversation only “ leads to interpretation . ” He continued , “ If we ’d announced that the movie was one hour and 50 arcminute there probably would have been an adequate amount of press and discourse . ”

So why the distance ? What does it say about the moving-picture show ?

“ What I ’ve always said is a movie is as long as it should be , ” Feige say . “ And we are not fan of gourmandize movies . We are not rooter of laborious lengths for no ground . We are fans of movies that you wish well did n’t end . Movies that you want to see again as soon as it ’s over . And movies that you just do n’t ever find a good fourth dimension to run out to the privy . That ’s when a movie ’s working . And if a motion picture does n’t feel like that to us we persist in to cut down , we continue to shape , we continue to add that prison term down . That pass to a certain extent on this moving picture . But we got to a point where it feel very exciting and goes by very quickly and in the death is the stark length . And everybody that saw the pic felt the same way of life . ”

Both Joe and Anthony Russo , who directed Endgame , and Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely , who write it , concord ; they secernate io9 that the movie warrants the length . Both readiness of creators feel the movie is almost incisively how they planned it .

“ We cut very little , ” Anthony Russo articulate . “ Since these moving-picture show are so complex , we want to get it correct in the hand . We desire the script to be incisively what we ’re die to shoot . And we do spend a lot of time with [ Markus and McFeely ] complain the tires on the script and beat it up .
