Angie Harmon is channeling her inner-princess — except, instead of singing with woodland creatures, she’s filming a makeup tutorial with one.
On Wednesday, the actress — known for her roles onLaw & OrderandRizzoli & Isles— shared an Instagramvideoof herself attempting to apply mascara while her pet squirrel, Thomas, treats her like a jungle gym.
In the clip, the 3-month-old squirrel climbs on Harmon, 51, shimmying from her hips and arms to her back and shoulders as she attempts to gain control of the mascara wand.
“I’m just going to put on some mascara and I’d appreciate it if you would just chill out for two seconds,” she says to the restless rodent. “Don’t bite my sweater.”
At one point, Thomas even grabs the product, prompting theBuried in Barstowstar to ask, “You want some mascara? Let’s give you some mascara."
“There’s no reason to be rude,” she jokes.
After demonstrating her exasperation with a series of pained faces, Harmon says, “I still have to do my hair,” and attempts to wrangle the squirrel once more (“Thomas, please come here”) before moving on to blush.
“You’re going to miss the fluffy,” Harmon tells her pet as she grabs the blush brush.
Thomas then jumps onto her head, and with one last “No,” the video ends abruptly.
“Here’s a shameless plug for @justbobbidotcom & @jonesroadbeauty mascara. & squirrels. I LOVE THEM BOTH! ❤️🐿️💋,” the actress captioned the clip. She added the hashtags, “#blessed #grateful #squirrelmom.”
The playful Thomas cameo comes a week after Harmonexclusively shared the story of how the fuzzy little guy scurried into her lifewith PEOPLE.
Harmon said she instructed Emery to place the newborn rodent under a tree and wait for his mom to return, but she never did.
“So I was like, ‘Okay, I’ll come get him,’ " she told PEOPLE. “And then I’ve had him ever since.”
Thomas opened his eyes for the first time about “one month later,” and Harmon — who also has three dogs and two cats — said caring for the squirrel was like having a newborn on her hands.
“I literally had to get up every hour and a half to feed him. I mean, I didn’t sleep for a month,” she said. “It was brutal.”
And, like doing makeup around the squirrel, feeding him often comes with a few scratches — but Harmon doesn’t mind.

The self-proclaimed “squirrel mom” also joked that after posting about Thomas on her social media accounts, she started getting feedback from lots of “squirrel experts.”
“It’s so funny because when something like this happens, all of a sudden, all your friends come out of the woodwork,” she laughed. “They’re all squirrel experts. I’m like, ‘I thought you were a vodka expert.'”
