Gliding along sidewalks , grinding along rail and … oh , walk down the stairs ? There are some obstacles not even a skateboard can pass , which is why Royal College of Art graduatePo - Chih Laihas designed a skateboard that can go down stair .
Calledthe Stair Rover , it get hold of the traditional skateboard design and tweaks the trucks at each end . On Lai ’s skateboard , two circle of wheels can swivel , allowing the skateboard to keep moving even when it encounters the right field - angles of steps .
The circuit board itself is more flexible than most skateboard decks , too , which mean that it can crouch and glide as it gets hammer by spotty surfaces cropping up beneath it . Lai explains what he conceive the ‘ board offers :
“ Via the mechanism of disentangle climbing wheel , deck in the “ Critical Space ” , skaters will see a new surfing joy and excitation . It increases the part of normal skateboard and extends the bound of the metropolis resort area . ”
The skateboard is current on diaplsy at the Royal College of Art as part of its Show RCA 2012 exhibit , which runs until 1 July . [ Po - Chih LaiviaDezeen ]
