Golden Flowers
I ’ve been following Gizmodo ’s shooting challenge for some clock time now , but I ’ve been shooting landscape for over four year . The prosperous hr has its fashion of really taking scenery to an entirely novel stratum , and I delight the boot of traveling to removed destination searching for that elusive characterization in the most preferred context . My most privilege slam in my assemblage are single taken just after the sun rises / sets over / past the horizon – which is unremarkably a very narrow windowpane of opportunity spanning only a few minute , This photograph is no exception , and was pick out right on at sunrise in a park ( appropriately ) squall ‘ Top of the World ’ in Laguna Beach , CA . ( Canon Rebel XTi w/24 - 70 2.8 , f/8 , 1/320s , ISO200 , 70 mm , Manfrotto tripod )

Silo
This is my first entry into the Shooting Challenge . I ’ve been following them for sometime and desire to enter but just never catch around to putting something together . This time I was driven to get an entry in . I pass some time this week coming up with emplacement and possible shots with the plan of get out this weekend . Naturally the weekend prognosis changed to nothing but rainwater so I had just one morning ( this one ) and one eventide to get a good guesswork .
I blot this on the path to cultivate and had about 5 minutes to frame-up and make the snap . Oddly enough this was not one of my scouted locations and I just happened across it . As fate would have it the evening clouded over so this was the only chance I ended up with . fortunately I had my tv camera with me . Canon EOS 60D , Lens EF 300 f4 - 5.6 , 1/400 at f6.3 ISO 100

Golden Gerty
I was composing a scene outside with the aim of submitting another mental picture , when I acknowledge my puppy , Gerty , was view me with such vividness . I thought there was probably a chip too much sunlight behind her , but I quickly take aim a knww and burn off a shot to try and catch her rarity . It resulted in a nice glow around her ! Shot with a Canon 60D and EF50MM f/1.8 II lens of the eye 1/100 sec . F/3.5 , ISO 100 , 50 MM

Tulips
I ’ve wanted to shoot a local business district area for a while , and finally went down there on Saturday night to do it for this competition . There ’s a historical limestone construction with flowers found in front that looked like it would give a nice demonstration of the color possible during the Golden Hour . Took the shaft about a half - hour before sunset . Shooting sum-up : Olympus E - P1 , Minolta MD Rokkor - X 45 mm f/2 with micro 4/3 adapter , ISO 200 , 1/320 sec , f/2.8 , EV + .3 .

The Web that Caught the Sun
My neighborhood is growing pretty fast and I noticed they recently start out clearing out the woods behind my house . My kids go out there passably ofttimes so I decided when I saw this contest it would be a utter clock time to go pip a sundown through the trees . I came away with a few pretty stock photograph but when I almost walked into this spider WWW I mean I ’d give my young broad slant f/2.8 lens a workout . I got as close to the spider connection as my crystalline lens would let me , then focused on the spider to go out mess of bokeh in the tree diagram and Dominicus behind it . No crazy post - processing , just a sloshed harvest and some minor colour correction . enceinte small walking in the woods too that lead me feeling excited that winter is officially over . Thanks for the idea , Giz ! Canon 60D Tokina 11 - 16 f/2.8 Lens @ 16 mm , 320 ISO @ f/2.8 and 1/1000 sec

Little Sister
Taken with a camcorder ! A Panasonic HS-700 to be accurate , with a polarizing filter attached . 1/100th second , ~f4 , ca n’t exactly remember . Took this in the first place this evening whilst at the beach in Northern England . It is a picture of my stepmum and little sis wrapping up as it was begin to get moth-eaten after a nice long twenty-four hours enjoying the sunshine . It was actually a lot burnished than it appears , as I had to exit the aperture right down to bring out the sun ’s colour !

Lake Ontario
I walk down to the dock before sundown to see what kind of photographic opportunities I might get during the “ Golden Hour ” . I notice a clustering of seagull standing on the edge of the wharf and as I get closer they would take off over the water towards the Lord’s Day every prison term . I go under my photographic camera to f/4 ISO 400 to allow for a faster shutter to taste to enamor one of the gull in mid flight over the piss . I ’d approach them slowly to see how secretive I could get and then kneel down on one knee to get closer to the water and stabilize my body and television camera . When the bird took off I ’d pull the tv camera up to my eye whilst twisting my eubstance to pan the camera with the flying of the razzing and snap a few shots when the bird was in frame . tv camera : Canon 40d , Canon EF 100 mm Macro f/2.8 , 1/800 second at ISO 400 , f/4 , Lake Ontario , Canada .

Surf
I was out claim photos of the sunset with my brother when I noticed a rather skilled skim roomer riding the edifice gallant . The vividness were awesome and he made a great subject for the Golden Hour contest . I blab to him after withdraw the scene and regain out he is an teacher from learntoskim.com a company that teaches people of all ages how to skim circuit card and enjoy the ocean . Needless to say Andrew was awesome and allow for me to enter this photograph . Canon Rebel T1i , Sigma 10 - 20 mm , iso:100 , f/5.6 , shutter speed : 1/4

The Tale of the Missing Train
For this photo , I used a Sony DSC - W290 , and a Gorilla Pod . alas , this is a very canonic consumer tv camera , so there are very few variables that I can change . Nevertheless , on that camera , there is a part that I call “ HDR Mode ” , since it take 3 pictures at different exposures . unluckily , I do n’t have much control over the advance preferences , so it was automatically choose the exposure , shutter speed , aperture and so on . For all 3 of the exposure , the f - stoppage was f/8 , the ISO was 80 , the focal length was 5 mm , and the max aperture was 3.43 .
The photograph and the shutter speed changed for every photo . The first photo , which was the brightest , had a 1/30 shutter stop number , and a +1 vulnerability , the second one had a 1/60 shutter speed and a + /- 0 exposure , and the last one , which was the darkest had a 1/125 shutter speed and a -1 exposure .
So the narration : the first light after I read about this contention , I got up at 5 am , to go catch a picture of the sun ascend over the train . If everything worked out perfectly , the sun would have risen at the same time as the train passed . I set up my tv camera onto a Gorilla gorilla pod , and put it into an hdr way , wanting to take a picture of the sunrise when the caravan passed . However , I screw up , and alternatively took 3 impression of the wagon train at different exposures . Yet risky , when the train slip away , the sun was barely over the skyline , and everything around me , including the power train , was lit up by light come from the dusk . After 3 failed attack at take a picture of the gearing , and waiting over an hour lie in on the freezing ground , I settle to go home and see what I could do with the photos . On the way back , I snapped a quick HDR photo of the rails , which finally turned out to be the photo that I chose for this competition . Then I take advantage of the holidays and slept for several extra hr .

Playground
I was out with my wife and daughter at the park just as it was getting to be the “ golden hour ” . When I attend at this brilliantly tinge dolphinfish it screamed “ playground storage ” to me . So I grab my camera ( always on hand ) , contract low to the ground ( from a kids perspective ) and shot . canyon EOS Rebel Xsi , Old manual Auto Chinon 1:1.7 55 mm with an adaptor , ISO 100 , f 1.7 , 1/1000

You take some ridiculously great photos this week . I personally enjoy the various interpretation of the Golden Hour . I ’ve always seen it as something subtle , when the human beings turns a touch more quick , sometimes even gold . But many ( both outside and inside this contest ) see it as a flaring , gilding of the landscape . Either manner , the shot are a pleasure to take in . The galleries are below . The wallpaper are onflickr .
